Communication between Zandik and the segments
Hi all,
I was thinking about the purpose of his experiment with the fragmentaion of the self into several segments of different ages.
As far as I understand, Zandik wants to pursue as much knowledge about Teyvat and its natural rules as (in-)humanly possible, which is why he wanted to capture impressions from several different perspectives. So far so good.
But Zandik would somehow need to collect that knowledge eventually. How did he do that?
On one hand to conduct a successful experiment he needs his test subject to act unbiased. I would assume then that his segments should not share every bit of knowledge they gain between each other, so that they would retain their respective character and ideals.
On the other hand, to gain deeper insights it is important for researchers to share any and all breakthrough insights among each other.
Which makes me believe that sharing knowledge between Zandik and the segments worked under specific conditions. But which ones?
Up until this point my theory was the following:
- segments are able to communicate with Zandik and each other without any aid, e.g. telepathically. I believe we saw something like this happen during the Sumeru AQ when 35 decided to make the deal with Nahida and the segments shared their last thoughts on this.
- as someone who likes to control his environment and experiments, maybe Zandik could take over the conciousness of a segment. However, in the recent AQ he was unable to force his segments to aid him at a critical moment (IF we can believe what 35 told us)
- there is some kind of hierarchy among the segments based on their age. Zandik as the oldest and of course the creator has access to any insights at any time. But because of the recent lore additions I started to doubt this. As we could read in one of the Boss drop Marrows, it seems like Zandik had to communicate naturally with his segments and was unable to perceive a segment's motives directly.
- the perspective of a child should likely not be influenced by later events and experiences, therefore younger segments get little to no access to the knowledge pool, or only selected bits and pieces.
So what are your theories? Especially with 35's ability to remote control the termination of the experiment.
