Help- Applying for g7 role
Hi all,
I’m currently an SEO applying for a G7 role, and it’s essentially the exact same job I already do — just at promotion level.
I’ve applied for G7 roles in my department several times now and honestly, I’ve never managed to get through the sift consistently. I even failed an interview last month, so I’m starting to feel pretty desperate to finally crack the personal statement side of things.
Also, slight embarrassment/confession: on one application I even added my name at the bottom of the personal statement because the application process involved uploading a Word document… complete schoolboy error. So yes, I’m clearly overthinking everything at this point.
The application has 3 criteria with a 750-word limit total, so I’m planning roughly 250 words per criterion using STAR format. That part I understand — I’ve done it hundreds of times.
But I genuinely feel there’s some kind of “magic touch” in the Actions section that separates the people who pass from the people who don’t.
I know I need to be more explicit about impact and measurable outcomes, but beyond that, what actually makes sift panels score the example highly?
And please — no generic advice like “read the Success Profiles” or “show leadership.” I’ve heard all of that already.
What I’d really appreciate is this:
Could someone give me ONE example sentence from an Actions section that makes you think:
“Yep, that’s strong G7 evidence.”
That would honestly help me more than anything else right now.
Thanks all.
