Builders and property developers: would you use invisible infrared heating instead of radiators in new build homes?

I’m interested in opinions from builders, property developers and anyone involved in new build homes, housing developments, apartment projects, retrofit projects or commercial-to-residential conversions.

Traditional heating with radiators and wet pipework can affect layout, wall space, installation time and long-term maintenance. In modern homes, especially where people want clean interiors and more usable space, radiator-free heating is becoming an interesting option.

One system we work with is invisible infrared heating. It can be installed beneath floors or within ceilings, so there are no radiators, no visible wall panels and no pipework running through the property. Each room can also be controlled separately with smart thermostats, giving room-by-room control and zoned heating.

For builders and developers, the possible benefits are:

  • more usable wall space
  • cleaner interior layouts
  • no radiators affecting furniture placement
  • no wet pipework across the property
  • suitable for new build homes and retrofit projects
  • useful for apartments and commercial-to-residential conversions
  • low maintenance compared with wet systems
  • smart heating control for each room
  • future-ready electric heating
  • no gas boiler required

I’m curious what people think.

Would you consider invisible infrared heating, underfloor heating or ceiling heating instead of traditional radiators on a development project?

Or do you think buyers still expect radiators and wet central heating?
