GED saved my life
Hi everyone 17F here
I haven’t taken the official test yet i am currently busy with my practice tests but im seriously on the verge of tears..
I was born a gifted child (i got a recent diagnosis for giftedness) and was always the smartest person in the room
But by the time i reached 11th grade i had no clue how to study and was behind everyone and eventually completely burned out which meant i had to repeat the year
It was hard.. very hard seeing all my friends doing senior traditions together and grow closer meanwhile i had to change schools due to embarrassment
Sadly my new school was no better, the people were horrible and cruel and picked on me all the time yet at the same time saw me as “the smart girl” and it lead to me letting others copy my homework or always compare their grades to mine and if i didnt get a good grade i would completely break down
Eventually i couldnt take it anymore and was so ready on ending things because i couldnt support another year of school while watching my other friends graduate and start university, i was completely ready to become a high school dropout
But then i stumbled upon the GED and realised it doesnt have to end here and i can still have a future
I always wanted to study at a prestigious school like MIT since i was 9 years old so giving up that dream wasn’t easy, but my mental health is way more important than that and i’m proud of myself for taking baby steps :)
I’m quite sad i missed grad day for the GED though, i wish i couldve had a real high school graduation, but im eternally grateful that the GED saved my life
