[misc] My Going-Out Pouch for Hand Eczema

Miscellaneous

My hand eczema has been flaring up a lot so I put together this going-out pouch for whenever I wash my hands outside the house.

I haven't tried it yet, so I might find it too tedious when I actually start to use it... If anyone has experience with this type of routine, please feel free to give me some pointers.

For some of the products, I bought smaller containers to make them travel-sized.

The idea is to clean ⇒ prep ⇒ treat ⇒ moisturise ⇒ sun protection ⇒ seal

  1. Pine Tar Bath Oil for handwashing in public restrooms. I plan on avoiding the soaps and alcohol sprays in public settings because they strip my skin and trigger flare-ups (although this is going to be hard because I'm a medical student, I might have to make some exceptions in hospital settings).
  2. Hypochlorous acid spray disinfects AND softens hardened eczema skin so the treatments can actually penetrate. I have a lot of thickened cracked areas. If in restaurants where washrooms are less accessible, I may just use this for disinfection to replace alcohol sprays.
  3. Urea Repair Cream is the moisturising step. Just trying out this Japanese brand, but otherwise I could also use Cerave's urea cream. The urea also gently exfoliates, which helps with the thickened skin.
  4. Sunstick for reapplying sunscreen on my hands after washing. I already carry one for my face so I will just use the same one on my hands.
  5. Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is the final seal to lock everything in. I will apply this sparingly over the worst spots after the sunscreen has set.
