MRI results... and a few questions

Central/right paracentral disc protrusion at L5-S1 resulting in moderate central canal narrowing and right lateral recess effacement with posterior displacement of the traversing right S1 nerve root.

 Narrative
 MRI LUMBAR SPINE WITHOUT CONTRAST

  ** HISTORY **:
29 years old, clbp w radiculopathy

  ** TECHNIQUE **:
MR images of the lumbar spine acquired without intravenous contrast.

  COMPARISON: Radiograph 2/21/2026

  ** FINDINGS **:
NUMBERING: Last fully formed disc space is designated L5-S1.

SPINAL CORD: Normal conus. Conus terminates at the L1-L2 level.

DISCS: Disc desiccation with mild height loss at L5-S1.

BONES: Mild straightening of the lumbar lordosis without spondylolisthesis. Normal vertebral body height. Mild fibrofatty degenerative changes at L5-S1.

SOFT TISSUES: Subcutaneous soft tissue edema of the posterior back.

T12-L1: No canal or foraminal stenosis.

L1-L2: No canal or foraminal stenosis.

L2-L3: No canal or foraminal stenosis.

L3-L4: No canal or foraminal stenosis.

L4-L5: Mild facet arthropathy. No canal or foraminal stenosis.

L5-S1: Posterior disc bulge with superimposed 17 x 12 mm central/right paracentral disc protrusion. Resulting in moderate central canal narrowing, right lateral recess effacement and left lateral recess narrowing with contact and posterior displacement of the traversing right S1 nerve root. Mild bilateral neuroforaminal narrowing.

  OTHER: None.

My goal is to completely heal without surgery. I had a steroid injection that didn't seem to do much and I've started bird dogs and daily water walking to strengthen my back and core muscles, plus the Mackenzie method. Does anyone have any specific recommendations for L5-SI injuries disc bulges with mild height loss?
