Struggling with extreme sleepiness (F25)
I'm have always been really sleepy (like since I can remember), but I'm starting to feel it's getting out of hand. I can easily sleep 12h-14h a day and still feel super sleepy during the day. I experience a lot of sleep inertia and thus I'm always late for work and even during work I have several times almost fallen asleep (my work is not strict with times so nobody really cares). Doing any type of chore like washing dishes, cooking food, showering is a rare occasion since it takes too much energy.
I have had episodes with a lot of depression and axiety and in the last 4 years I have burnt out 2 times. However, in between burning out I experience no anxiety and I do not really feel depressed. I've been on SSRIs which made me much sleepier and now on Wellbutrin 150mg which is the only thing that remotely helps. I go to occupational therapy to learn to manage my energy levels and to learn to switch activies (it can take hours for me to start with something) but it has not made much of a difference. Done all the blood work there is and my hormones and iron/ferritin levels are all fine. Coffe makes me feel even more sleepy. I don't snore and I fall asleep like 5 minutes after trying and never wake up during the night.
Basically, my doctor is telling me that "everybody is different" and "this is normal" whilst I can barely function in my day-to-day life. I can never see myself having a family due to my fatigue and a feel like a 3rd burnout is approaching if this does not change. Can somebody relate to this??? Is it really normal to be this sleepy and fatigued? Am I just super lazy?
