Ward Questions

I have a couple questions about Ward. I know i could probably just Google this, but here goes:

1. Can I respond after an opponent pays a Ward cost? Example: I have a [[Hexing Squelcher]] out, opp casts [[Lightning Bolt]] targeting the Squelcher. Ward triggers, opp pays the 2 life. Can I now respond, either with say a [[Counterspell]] on the Bolt or something like a [[Snakeskin Veil]] on the Squlecher?

2. I know multiple instances of Ward trigger separately, but who decides how to order the triggers? Is it the controller of the creature with Ward? And again, pursuant to my first question, can I respond after one or all of them are paid?
