Insurance Company Overstepping — Need Advice from the Industry

HELP! I have a question.

My friend owns a small body shop in Ontario, Canada.

An investigator from a insurance walked in and removed the head unit from a customer’s car that was in for repairs. No consent from the customer, no notice to the shop. Just took it.

Car is not a total loss. No police or court order. Nothing signed.

Is this even legal? Has anyone dealt with this? What would you do — police report, FSRA complaint, lawyer?
