What is the best USA import data provider for manufacturers?
If your buyer is a manufacturer, the “best” U.S. import data provider really depends on what you’re trying to solve for.
From what I’ve seen:
- Descartes Datamyne - probably the strongest all-around option for manufacturers
- PIERS / S&P Global- best for deep ocean freight and waterborne trade analytics
- ImportGenius -easier for lightweight shipment tracking and prospecting
- Panjiva - strong enterprise supplier intelligence workflows
I’ve also seen more teams exploring platforms like Export Genius Trade Intelligence Platform for broader global supplier discovery, shipment visibility, and import-export trend analysis across multiple countries.
The bigger shift happening right now is that manufacturers are no longer using trade data only for sales prospecting.
They’re using it for:
- Supplier diversification
- Competitor sourcing analysis
- Shipment monitoring
- Trade flow visibility
- Risk management
Especially with all the supply chain volatility in 2026, visibility into actual trade movements has become a lot more valuable than static supplier directories.
Most commercial “import data” platforms are strongest on ocean bill-of-lading data. If your category relies heavily on air freight, parcel shipments, or importer-suppressed records, no platform gives perfect coverage.
