Research show humans avoid wasted effort rather than exertion, & are fine with the cost of effort when feels worthwhile. Implications for volunteer engagement?

A review of developmental psychology & behavioral literature supports a conclusion that "Humans Avoid Wasted Effort Rather Than Exertion." They are fine with the cost of effort when feels worthwhile.

IMO, this is something most managers of volunteers that have no trouble recruiting and keeping volunteers have long known.
