With the new deck prices, and fears now over Machine, should developers be worried for the longevity of PC gaming?

:gold: Discussion

We’ve all seen the rampocolypse and now SSDs being hit etc, plus other factors all causing increased pricing, this will mean that new pc gamers will be priced out of the market.

PC components don’t last forever and would need to be replaced by those who still game on PCs. We have also seen reports that certain hardware component manufacturers are losing money as well, looking at the recent gamers nexus video, due to lack of demand thanks to prices.

Is PC gaming on a downward trajectory? maybe gaming as a whole? I see the fear of renting PCs being the future and most comments saying NO to that.

But my question is should game devs be worrying now, whether indie or mainstream?

They can target lower hardware optimisation and that would help, but if people are priced out altogether is this nothing more than a bandaid to a gushing wound as people either get pushed out over time of the medium due to needing a new PC/components, or not being able to set foot in it at all.
