Nerve demage
I’ve been dealing with clitoral numbness and altered sensation for a long time.
It all started 6 years ago when I had a severe, continuous burning pain in my clitoris for about two weeks. After it eventually resolved on its own, I was left with mild numbness and reduced sensitivity that never fully went away.
For the next 5 years, I was still sexually functional and able to reach orgasms, so I didn’t feel completely disabled by it.
However, over the past year, without any clear trigger, the numbness has drastically worsened. I now have a major reduction in both sexual and tactile sensation. I barely feel my clitoris during the day anymore and I constantly feel like something is “missing” or that the area is no longer part of my body.
On top of that, I’ve had further worsening episodes: one in January after a simple attempt at masturbation, and another in May. None of these worsening phases have ever improved back to baseline.
I’m still waiting for medical evaluations and to start pelvic floor physiotherapy, but I can’t help feeling like I may have waited too long and that the damage is now permanent.
I’ve been trying to make sense of this and I’m wondering about a possible explanation. Could it be possible that the initial severe burning pain I experienced 6 years ago led to a chronic protective pelvic floor muscle contraction that never resolved, and that over time this caused progressive dysfunction or damage of the dorsal nerve of the clitoris, eventually leading to permanent nerve deterioration?
This is just a theory I’m trying to understand my situation, since I have had no injury, I have not taken medications that could explain this, and there doesn’t seem to be any other systemic cause for such a localized and severe change in sensation.
I would really appreciate any thoughts or similar experiences.
