I switched to WASD and back again and have undone a year of progress =(

Educational

In what has probably been the single most self-destructive decision I've ever made in a multiplayer video game (which says a lot since I'm a WoW player who skim reads guides), I decided to make the "full-time" switch to WASD movement.

I made this decision because I honestly suck at both kiting and camera movement since this is my first ever MOBA game. WASD was a dream I always had for this game, but never thought we'd get. Until this update, I actually used WASD for my camera movement. As blasphemous as that may sound, I just can't bring myself to feel comfortable using my mouse to edge pan.

But then WASD released for ranked and I decided to retrain my muscle memory. My DPS was higher on target dummies, yet in reality, I was playing so much worse. I can't for the life of me figure out a way to use the camera comfortably, it always feels so much worse than I had it before. Not to mention that WASD in general feels so janky and weird in this game. I find that I fall off easier in chases, but rotating my WASD inputs feels unnatural and even worse.

Before switching to WASD, I was Plat ranked, now after a month of playing WASD and then changing back to my original keybinds, I'm almost back in Silver. I only started playing the game a few years ago, and now I feel like I've lost a year's worth of progress (OR MORE). My muscle memory is tattered, I'm slower in every single way, and I'm being flamed almost every game for it =(

This is a warning, do not make my mistake. If you've already learned how to use standard movement settings up to a decent level, DO NOT SWITCH TO WASD ‼️

Or if anyone was able to overcome these issues as a WASD player, please lmk what changes you made and what it sounds like I'm doing wrong.
