Bank fees

My mother had accumulated a few $$$ and wished to transfer some funds to my brother $8k, sister $6k and I $10k.

They discouraged cash withdrawals and wanted to do bank transfer.

Brother deals with the same bank and transfer was free. Fair call.

The transfers to my sister and I, incurred a fee of $35 each.

Mum in her $80’s didn’t query this.

Is this normal for bank transfers to another bank. I feel a $35 fee for each, given it’s just an electronic transfer seems excessive. I hope someone can enlighten me if this is the norm, or did they just charge an arbitrary fee to an old lady who thinks the bank is there to help her.

I’m guessing that there is no fee if withdrawn in cash, but would have to answer a heap of questions. But happy to be enlightened on this also
