Can HC Cuba thrive on inert substrate in a high-tech tank?
My Monte Carlo has been growing well even on an inert substrate, but I was wondering: would more demanding plants like HC Cuba still do well too, or is aquasoil really a big advantage there?
I’m about to transfer everything (fish, plants, filter, etc.) from one aquarium to another, and I’d like to avoid:
- ammonia spikes
- KH/parameter swings
- issues for the fish (I’ll be using an already mature filter)
Do you have any recommendations for a good inert substrate that is:
- easy to plant in
- doesn’t alter water parameters
- suitable even for demanding plants like HC Cuba?
Thanks!
