How to get into phd ?

I did mba and worked for a while before I had to quit job due to personal reasons. Now I am on a career break. I worked in management and consulting, so is it realistic for me to apply for phd? If so, what should be my starting point? My options are to apply for one in India or Denmark.

I did some research and I’m overwhelmed . Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
