Sell me on starting black Templars

I am 8 months into 40k and after getting 3k points of ultramarines I am looking for a melee fuck it we ball army. Obvious choice are world eaters but I hate heresy, orks are one of the same. How do Templars play? Is it really advance charge advance charge sword in your face ?
