Question about valencina and the smoke war

So if i remember correctly, valencina was a war hero in the smoke war, and then got promoted and kicked out 3 days later and sent to the hos sometime later. But then ryoshu also has a memory of valencina being in the smoke war in twining threads intervallo (forgot what age she was). So that would mean the smoke war lasted for a very very long time then? Because valencina was there at the start of hos and raised ryoshu, and got sent back to the smoke war.

Correct me if wrong, i dont have really good memory and i forgot most of the talking during canto 9 and intervallo
