pls help guys

people are saying that since the second attempt was much harder so cutoffs will fall like 5-7 marks despite the first attempt being normal difficulty. does that mean that i can only use my second attempt score to apply or can i use my first attmept score coz that was better. sorry if this is a stupid question.
