Considering optometry

Hi everyone as the title says I’m considering doing optometry, and studying 5 years. It’s a lot of hecs. Im currently 21 with little to not progression as a gym trainer. Given 50k hecs and 5 years of time it would send me back, would it be fruitful financially down the track. Anyone from the industry or know off would love your opinions, on salary and progression.
