I keep seeing this debate all over TikTok and X, especially after the Michael biopic. Michael Jackson fans and The Beatles fans constantly going back and forth, especially over Come Together. A lot of MJ fans say Michael’s version blows the Beatles version out the water which is fine, it’s their opinionI , but I still think people underestimate how influential The Beatles really were.

In my opinion, The Beatles had the bigger impact on music overall. They changed songwriting, studio experimentation, albums as artistic statements, and influenced almost every genre that came after them. Modern pop and rock music would probably look very different without them.

That’s not disrespect to Michael Jackson at all. He’s arguably the greatest entertainer ever and completely changed pop culture, music videos, and live performance. Thriller alone changed the industry forever.

As for Come Together, I think it just comes down to preference. Michael’s version is darker and funkier, while the original has that classic Beatles chemistry and originality. Both are great, but if we’re talking overall influence on music history, I’d still give the edge to The Beatles.

The Beatles or Michael Jackson, which one impacted music more in your opinion?
