We just closed on our custom build and the builder actually came through on the HVAC upgrade!

So relieved right now tbh. We did our final walkthrough yesterday and I was honestly terrified the builder would try to cheap out on the mechanicals given how crazy the supply chains have been lately. But they actually installed the exact premium system we specified in the contract addendum. I spent months researching the top tier heat pump equipment brands for our specific residential zone because I wanted to ensure we got something incredibly efficient that wouldn't skyrocket our utility bills. Our licensed contractor mentioned this same system is often used in heavy duty commercial setups too, making it a perfect long term replacement choice as we head into 2026. The tech team did an absolutely flawless install, super clean lines, pressure tested perfectly, and it runs so quietly you barely hear it kick on. It’s a massive weight off my shoulders because a bad climate control setup can completely ruin your homeownership experience from day one. For anyone else out there building right now, it definitely pays to negotiate your mechanical specs explicitly early on instead of just accepting standard contractor grade stuff. Anyone else get lucky with a development team who actually cared about quality?
