The number of people who lose a Safari tab and think it's gone forever is wild. Here's every way to get it back
I see this come up all the time, so let me just put it all in one spot. You close a tab by accident, or your kid does, or Safari wipes your whole session after an update, and you think it's gone. It's almost never gone. People just don't know where to look.
Start with the one everyone should have in their back pocket. Tap the tabs button, the two little squares in the bottom right. Then press and hold the plus button. Hold it, don't tap it. A list of your recently closed tabs slides down, and you just tap the one you want. Safari hangs onto a pretty long list here, so even if a bunch closed at once, you can grab them back one at a time. This is the one i use ten times a day.
If the tab you want is older than that list, your history has it. Tap the bookmarks icon, then the clock tab, and scroll. Every page you've been to is sitting right there waiting.
Now the one people forget exists, shake to undo. Close a tab, give your phone a real shake, and it offers to bring the tab back. One catch, and this tripped me up too. The feature can be switched off. Go to settings, then accessibility, then touch, and scroll down to shake to undo. If it's off, that's why nothing happens when you shake. Turn it on and try again. Also worth knowing, it only works right after you close the tab, before you start tapping around on other stuff.
So that's my three. Recently closed for the everyday slips, history for the older stuff, and shake to undo for the panic moment.
Now I'll throw it to you. I know there are other ways to pull back lost tabs that i didn't cover here. What's your method? Drop it below. And if any of these three were new to you, just comment 'yes' so i can see how known these actually are.
