Are smart locks actually reliable for Indian apartments with maids, guests and deliveries?

I don't have a smarthome platform

Smart locks appear to be convenient on the surface, but I wonder how effective they will be for everyday life in the Indian apartment.

In many Indian households the main door is used by the family members, househelp, visitors, delivery boys, relatives and occasionally by the elderly parents. So it is not a matter of whether fingerprint unlock actually works, it's whether it remains convenient down the road.

I am curious about:

Does fingerprint unlock work reliably after months of use?
How often does the battery need replacement?
Can PIN/OTP be used for househelp or guests?
If the app doesn't work, what do you do?
Do elderly parents find it easy or confusing?
Do you still need a physical key as a backup?
Is there any correlation between installation and performance?
Is an apartment smart lock worthwhile or a source of anxiety?

Would like to hear from people who are using smart locks in Indian apartments. What has been your normal day to day life like?

While most conversations around smart locks in India are about fingerprint unlock, I believe that's just a piece of the puzzle.
