Stuck
We are both needy,
needlessly, we agonise,
suffer the pain of longing,
both craving the other.
-
One retched his pain on pages,
set it on fire and watched it rage,
The other, pushed it out of her heart.
"It won't work, he doesn't like me."
-
A score of years later
we met again, and the feeling blazed,
overwhelming with its intensity,
we drowned in what we secretly craved.
-
The fact is black and white,
what we did was wrong,
though it felt so right.
Recklessly we plunged into each other
-
And nothing changed,
you in me and me in you
only made you more you
and me more me
-
But, we couldn't be with each other?
The natural rythm of our inner lives
fits our souls like gloves
but then again we are both yoked
to the life we lived
and the promises we made
to someone else.
