What if they are farm animals and the man in yellow is the farmer?
Sorry, it might sound stupid but i have to let it from my system. What if the whole series is the point of view of farm animals? Once they just happen to be there. They can’t escape because, because they are enclosed and there are fences that they can’t really see nor comprehend. There is electricity and houses to occupy. Maybe the colony house is a huge barn, while the family houses are smaller coops. They have food that seem to appear magically. What if they are simply fed? What if the monsters are either predators like foxes, maybe not educated or well-behaving children that torture the animals or farm workers. The farmer doesn’t like it when the animals are trying to escape, wandering too far, digging to deep. The characters change in time and there are new cycles because they are consumed. >!Maybe that’s why Victor saw the Man in Yellow eat his mother.!<
