This subreddit has a massive slop problem

Meta

No, I'm not talking about AI/LLM slop here as I've seen the moderator write-up on why banning it here is a logistical problem - though it does play a major part in the problem.

The other slop I'm talking about is Nodebuster slop. I'm browsing the subreddit every day and almost every time I manage to find a new game with all of these 4 things:

  • Zillions of moving things on a board (often 2D or 2.5D)
  • A skill tree
  • A timer, health bar or counter
  • A CRT filter

And let's be honest, none of these games really play that different from each other. You just repeat a cycle of playing the game and using your points to purchase skill tree nodes until you finish that skill tree in about 2-3 hours, and then there's nothing to do. This has already been seen like 50 times here already, and not that many people want to play the 51th Nodebuster slop clone.

And the absolute flood of both Nodebuster and AI/LLM slop here just drives people away from this subreddit and towards places like Galaxy.click or IncrementalDB where more cool/original games are posted without all that slop flooding the hidden gems.
