Are we loosing sympathy towards other people???

🗣 Discussion / चर्चा

Toady, I went to a medical store to buy some medicines, there was this lady, around 40, very sick and poor looking with a daughter of around 10 years with her, she was also exactly looking like her mother by her cloths and hairs, they both were just standing there. Everyone else was purchasing stuff, and suddenly, the shopkeeper shouted on her "jati hai ki nhi yha se," she almost begged that "de dijiye na bhaiya" An aunty asked kya h ji? which the shopkeeper replied, "paisa hai nhi dukan pr aagye hai subah subah," Lady said again, "paisa to de hi rhe h, Rs. 8 km hai bss, de dijiye kbhi jayenge yha se to lauta denge." Store owner shouted again to get lost.

I looked at her prescription. It was 4 medicines written there, generally given in fever, than looked at her, they both were looking very pale. At the shop there were 5 people at that time, all were looking like well maintained, /earning people but no one did anything, moreover that Aunty was saying, "bhikh mangne ka aadat ho gya hai inka." I said nothing, took her prescription for a moment, it was prescribed for 7 days, however that lady was buying for just 2 days which was still 8 rupees short. So I bought her 7 days medicine and gave that to her, she tried to give me those left rupees but I denied, she gave me some blessings and I came to my room than.

On the way I was thinking it's not about who doing what, but help of 8 rupees is something very negligible for people. Still people don't even feel the pain. If it was some random person begging for food, like normal beggers on roadside, you might think that they are seeking money for something else but this doesn't happens while buying medicines.

It was sad and made me question that are people really losing sympathy...?
