I managed to find and pick up an 8 spoke wheel from an RC36 VFR750F, and I’m very happy I did. It completely changes the look of the bike compared to the stock wheel.

The thing is, I don’t think white really suits the bike in real life as much as it does in photos, and I’d like to repaint it in the OEM gunmetal color Honda used on these wheels. Does anyone happen to know the actual OEM color code, or a very close modern equivalent?

I spoke to my local powder coater, and he said he could probably get very close to the OEM color. Normally he recommends doing both wheels together so the finish and shade match perfectly, but he said he’d consider making an exception and only doing the rear wheel.

The issue is that one wheel costs about €140 to strip and powder coat, so for both wheels I’d be looking at around €280 total. The front wheel is already in perfect condition, so repainting it purely for color matching feels a bit excessive.

Also, on the VFR you don’t even see the front wheel nearly as clearly as the single-sided swingarm rear wheel anyway, because the dual front rotors obstruct so much of it.

Would you guys:

\- repaint only the rear wheel and accept a slight mismatch if necessary

\- or just commit to doing both properly?

And if anyone knows the OEM gunmetal code or has matched it before, I’d really appreciate the help.
