When do I look into antipsychotics?

NSFWSupport Needed :nervous:

I have Bipolar 2 with lots of mixed episodes -- I finally started taking it seriously after an edible sent me into a bit of a psychotic episode (Husbands face was warping like I was on acid, I was convinced he was trying to kill me, stood outside in the snow and called 911 because I thought I was dying, no trust in anyone around me, etc). Started Lithium some time in March-- tried to go up to 600 mg, had horrible side effects (inability to sleep due to 'vibrating' in skull, restless body, etc), have been dropping back down to 300 mg and the withdrawals have been rough but I've been getting through. (I'm VERY sensitive to medication unfortunately.)

It has sent me into such a weird, fluctuating mood though-- I'm experiencing the urge to harm myself and intrusive thoughts to harm others (I can resist the urges ofc, and I think they might just be from my OCD and my mood changing is just making them feel more terrifying ?)...

I'm not manic as far as I'm aware. But I do see flashes of light in my peripherals-- maybe that has something to do with my vision being trash though? I dont feel like I saw any light flashing with eyes open until I started lithium though-- maybe it's another weird side effect? And last night I 'smelled toast' but didn't have any symptoms of stroke-- and I get phantom smells once every few months anyways and have gotten those for a good chunk of my life.

I've maybe been believing a bit more in 'angel numbers' lately but usually try to take everything with a grain of salt bc... Y'know. It's ridiculous lmao.

Writing this out, it doesn't sound like I'm needing an antipsychotic-- maybe that I just need to make sure I communicate these scary feelings and light hallucinations to some loved ones so that they can help me monitor myself in case things do start escalating. This is probably just me coming down from that higher dose of lithium.

Idk I'm just struggling and want some outside input.
