“Maybe Just Say ‘Circuital Preferred’ Honestly”

Motivation

Honestly, future IISc applicants should keep expectations realistic, especially for interdisciplinary programs.

If you don’t get an offer by Round 1 itself, chances later become really low. I waited till COAP Round 3 thinking movement would happen, but barely anything meaningful changed.

Also, if you’re applying outside your core branch, please keep backup options ready no matter how strong your GATE score is.

Programs say “students from all departments can apply”, but selection honestly feels heavily tilted towards circuital branches again — CS/EE/DA etc.

I’m from BT, OBC girl, had ~765-790 GATE score with AIR under 30-50, still couldn’t convert.

And then they say:
70% GATE + 30% test/interview.

But somehow that 30% becomes enough to completely change everything.

At that point you start wondering what exactly was the point of grinding so hard for GATE.

And honestly, talent is not branch-locked. People from BT, chemical, mech, civil etc can absolutely compete and outperform too if given equal opportunity and exposure.

Just wanted to say this because the reality felt very different from the brochure.
As there was this girl around score like 730 but from CS and she got in but that too intelligently retained it rather than freezing it , I think it was round 1, yes.
