**Thurston County Jane Doe**

A cranium, plus 3 fragmentary bones were found in a wooded area used as a dumping site on October 19, 1981 off Reservation Rd. in Olympia, Thurston County, Washington.

Age is estimated to be between 20-30 years old at the time of her death. Estimated date of death likely occured (per [Namus](https://www.namus.gov/UnidentifiedPersons/Case#/8886) and [Doe Network](https://www.doenetwork.org/cases/software/main.html?id=1477ufwa)) between the years of 1966-1979. Unfortunately, due to the state of her remains, information regarding height, weight, hair and eye color are unavailable. No clothing, jewelry or other personal effects were found either. The only thing found near her remains was a crudely constructed cross of sticks fastened with shoe string.

This Jane Doe is currently undergoing investigative genetic genealogy with the [DNA Doe Project](https://dnadoeproject.org/case/reservation-rd-jane-doe-1981/). According to their website: " Genealogical research has revealed that Jane Doe is of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage, which has made genealogical progress in this case rather difficult. Jewish genealogy is complicated by intermarriage within small communities, as well as issues with a lack of accessible records."

**Julia Ann Kalors** (sometimes spelled, "Kanol". Maiden name "Cannell")

(Image Credit: Northern Illinois University in DeKalb yearbook,1970)

Julia was 30 years old when she was reported missing from Seattle, King County, Washington on November 13, 1977. She was 5'8", 125lbs with brown hair and brown eyes. Distinctive markings include a fresh burn scar on her left hand.

Unfortunately, there is not much information regarding her case or circumstances of her disappearance. However, a Webslueths user did manage to find some additional information about her life. ([Link here](https://websleuths.com/threads/wa-julia-kanol-cannell-30-seattle-13-nov-1977.339813/#post-19844488) for more details).

Julia was born and raised in Illinois. She got married in early 1970 in DeKalb County, Illinois. Julia later filed for divorce from her husband and was finalized in July of 1976 in Seattle, Washington. They had no children.

I was only able to find Julia's [NAMUS](https://www.namus.gov/MissingPersons/Case#/7127?nav) page. I was unable to find a record for her on Doe Network or Charley Project.

A few things seem to line up for both of these cases. The distance between Seattle and where Jane Doe's remains were located in Olympia is roughly, 54 mile (give or take, of course, as we don't know where exactly in Seattle Julia was residing). Julia would also fit within the estimated age range for this Jane Doe. Her disappearance in 1977 also fit into the estimated date of death of 1966-1979.

I did feel it was worth a shot to at least submit a tip to DNA Doe Project. Since they are currently working on Jane Doe's IGG case, I figured it would be best to contact them. Per the auto-reply email I received from them, tips are forwarded to LE but unfortunately, they won't be able to provide an update.
