I love how many different political interpretations there are of this game

Discussion

I'm not a very politically knowledgeable person. I would like to be, but currently my life is a bit busy as is, so it'll be a while before I can properly study this game and the things that inspired it. But even still, I love the amount of interpretations I've seen of this game.

I've seen so many different views on Evrart and Joyce. Some people say that they're a litmus test: one side is objectively good and the other is objectively bad, but that a lot of people fail it because Joyce talks to them kindly. I've also seen people say that Evrart is no different from Joyce, he just exploits the working class in ways that benefit them. People have said that Joyce is wholly evil, or that if communists were in charge then she would benefit them and be wholly good.

I've seen people say that Measurehead is meant to show that sometimes violence and lawlessness are the only answers to prejudice since the only ways to get into the dock are to break in, beat Measurehead up, or to internalize racism (which you can lie about actually internalizing later, but with everything Harry is, I think he might've internalized it just a touch). But then I've also seen people say that Measurehead is meant to show that any prejudice can be overcome with discussion and understanding their viewpoints, even if it's morally difficult or logically incomprehensible.

I've seen people say that the game is very clearly communist. I've seen people say that the game is anti-communist. I've seen people say that the game explicitly supports fascism, but then other people say that the game never portrays fascism in a good light.

I've even seen some interpretations that the game supports liberalism. Granted, I'm not sure how people actually got that conclusion: I'm not politically knowledgeable and even I recognize that this game pretty clearly loathes liberals lol.

I love seeing all the different interpretations people have of this game's politics. And I especially love how almost all of them actually make sense! Save for the liberal one, almost any point of view that I've listed has some pretty good points that I've seen people make for or against them. It's really fun seeing the community around this game.
