DIY drip irrigation worth doing yourself?

Trying to stop wasting water on my flower beds every summer, so I’ve been researching simple drip setups for the fence line and front garden beds.

The tubing part actually seems pretty straightforward, especially after looking at some Netafim and NDS setups, but the kits online all look a little flimsy where they hook up to the outdoor tap.

For people who’ve done this before, did the basic kits hold up okay or did you end up replacing parts pretty quickly?
