Nixon vs Kennedy

I understand the notions people had against Kennedy for being Catholic at the time, but why nothing with Nixon being a Quaker? The country wasn’t far removed from Hoover(also a Quaker) Was there ever any negative connotations of the Quaker faith at the time or did Kennedy’s Catholicism just outweigh Nixon only being aligned with being a Quaker rather than devoutly practicing? Wasn’t it known at the time Nixon didn’t have any deep religious connection, was that not more of an alarm in 1960?
