Advice needed

I have a zombie story (about a young woman searching for her long-lost dad that she never met in a zombie apocalypse) that I started on a few years ago that I never finished (not even close). And now I have this other story I want to start on about a young neurodivergent woman who moves to this corrupt town that she's never been to before after her father is murdered. She goes to live with her horrifically abusive stepdad and biological mom (her and her mom was estranged and her mom never wanted her, to explain why she's never been to this town despite her mom and stepdad living there).

So I'm thinking of working on both stories at once rather than finishing one then work on the other, because this zombie story is long overdue but I really wanna work on this other story while it's still in my head and part of my inner world (I'm not even sure where I was going with the zombie story).

I know working on more than one WIP is common in the writing community, but how do writers with a brain that's different from typical people handle working on more than one WIP at the same time? By different brain, I mean things like OCD, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, repetitive behavior (not the typical repetitive behavior common with editing but the kind that affects other aspects of your life and is due to how your brain is wired, which makes editing a whole lot worse)?

And I need a little advice on the opening scene of my story's first chapter. The story about the young woman and the corrupt town. So, in the opening scene, should I have the first few lines take place at the actual funeral, like maybe the first line is someone telling her, "I'm so sorry for your loss." Or should the first few lines be her arriving at her stepdad and mom's house by taxi and the taxi pulling up at the house? I can't decide on which way the opening scene should go and which would fit the story better? So I'm just looking for thoughts and opinions, which I hope is okay.

I really didn't know whether to choose the feedback requested flair or the question flair. So I'm sorry if I chose the wrong one.
