Going from corporate insurance to independent contractor ACA?
My husband is leaving his corporate job to work remotely for a company in another country as an independent contractor. The company is expanding to the U.S. but until then, he’s an independent contractor. I’m disabled but my husband makes too much for me to qualify for benefits (at least according to my research). I have several diseases and conditions (endometriosis + many surgeries are the source of my chronic pain) so I’m in pain management and see a gastroenterologist, endocrinologist, and gyno every few months. And I need to see a podiatrist soon for ingrown toenails lol. So we need good insurance as I take a lot of necessary medications to keep living (for example, I don’t have a thyroid due to thyroid disease so I need to take medication for that).
My husband’s new company (the CEO is a former co-worker that sought him out) will pay stipends to cover us, but … where do we go from here? Any tips or suggestions on choosing the right ACA plan? Thank you in advance!
