Building a camera-first visual agent for the “what am I looking at?” moment

Disclosure: I work on CHANCE AI. I’m trying to build this in public and would like feedback, not do drive-by promo.

The problem I keep seeing: people often don’t know the words to search when they see a painting, outfit, object, room style, menu item, or unfamiliar visual detail. Google Lens/Pinterest are good at matching and shopping; the gap is explanation + context + better search language.

Current version is free on iOS. If you want to test it, search “CHANCE AI” in the App Store. No link here because I’d rather keep this useful than spammy.

What I’m trying to learn:

  • When would you use a camera-first visual agent instead of Google Lens or ChatGPT?
  • What output is actually useful: name, history, search terms, shopping terms, styling advice, safety caveats?
  • Would you trust it more if it shows uncertainty and close alternatives?

Blunt feedback is useful, especially from people building consumer apps.
