When I saw a bunch of discourse surrounding this game I thought I’d take a look myself. No way it could be a 10/10 masterpiece like many gaming journalist outlets said, but there’s no way it is a complete dogshit 1/10 game. It was dogshit.

There’s nothing wrong with having a narrative focused game where it is very light on gameplay. But when you do, you have to have a great narrative in order to make up for the lack of gameplay and mechanics.

This is honestly probably the most pretentious narrative I’ve witnessed in a game ever. A coming of age story where no one comes of age. A story that feels like it’s made by people who were nostalgic for the 90’s but never got to experience what the 90’s were like. And written by people who I’m assuming were very non social individuals because the main cast of characters are insufferable and I’m led to believe they don’t know how teenagers actually talk or act.

I believe this is quite literally an industry plant, an “Oscar Bait” of video games. Because I know what we feel about every type of media is subjective, but there is no way I can possibly believe that someone played this and thought to themself “Yeah this is a 10/10.”

1/10
