Hi folks, just wanted to do a quick first impressions on my new Goldtop bought from DJM Guitars in Essex UK. This guitar was packaged incredibly well, especially as it didn't come with a case. Condition was disclosed and the pictures were good, on to the first impressions

I used to have an Old Glory that I no longer have and missed the P90 sound, so I went looking around. Found a Gibson Classic with P90s but it was more than I could justify for an experiment, but I spotted that DJM guitars also had this Epiphone Goldtop in, so I bought it to try

First impressions are very good, I don't remember the Chinese epiphones being this well built and well finished, the neck profile is traditional 50s. I'm very definitely a 60s slim taper guy, I hadn't actually played a 50s styled neck before this one, so I didn't know what to expect. But yeah, it's bigger than I would like.

Pickups are also pretty good, especially with gain, whist it sits somewhere between a Humbucker and a single coil, it's still a sound that resonates with my approach to higher gain tones. It won't do Modern Metal by any means without a boost/noisegate but for additional layering and texture work, it's great.

Weight is acceptable, my Standard is slightly heavier but no neckdive

It's a good little guitar and I'm very happy with it.
