In all those slavery years, my mind was all dwelled into materialistic things like the brands of watches, perfumes, footwear, clothes, dining at sophisticated places only, blah blah gadgets and what not in that sphere.

I have now understood the real meaning of being happy with what you do for living and when that hits you, none of the materialistic things cross your mind.

Fortunately, i have never been married so it was relatively easy for me to lock up that slavery career and pick up something that teaches me how to be patient, generous and grounded everyday. 

Life is surrounded by animals, tourists, natives, students, kids, working staff and the surreal magic of every breath you take in Kashi by the Ganges. Working hours don't matter, I have not taken a single leave since I joined(15th April) and I don't even feel the need for it because I love and live each day out here so passionately. 

My work includes opening the cafe, cleaning and setting it up, preparing food and drinks, looking at those happy customer faces, taking pictures, managing billing, watering plants and eventually closing the cafe at night.

If anyone out here feels suffocated everyday with your work then take that risk to get out of it, it's worth more than whatever you can think of.

I 36M from Varanasi volunteering at a cafe since mid of last month after 14 years of corporate slavery is very happy with my decision, that slavery loop is hard to get out of and the sentence 'grass looks greener on the other side' is just rubbish because it feels greenest to me.
