Do cEDH “teams” at events lead to collusion or is it just part of the competitive meta
My friends and I have been debating the impact of cEDH “teams” at tournaments (groups with matching shirts, testing groups, etc.).
Do you think this leads to pregame collusion or unfair play? Some people argue it negatively affects the game—players may implicitly or explicitly work together and it can feel close to cheating. Others compare it to team-based competition in other environments (like F1 or NASCAR), where maximizing your group’s overall success is part of the game.
With prize pools getting bigger, it feels like incentives push players to get the most EV possible—sometimes beyond just their individual win percentage.
Curious where people land on this:
•Is team play a problem in cEDH tournaments?
•Where do you draw the line between normal politics and collusion?
•Does higher prize support change your opinion?
