Do Not Buy, Terrible performance and janky combat

📢 Feedback 📢

So, I played one round before I determined this game is absolutely not worth a cent in its current state. Performance is horrendous all around. I am running a 4060 and an i7 14k with a 1TB SSD. I was managing roughly 42-50 FPS at the best. This wouldn't have been such an issue if the rubberbanding was not so bad as to be nearly unplayable.

The Good

  • Tutorials were competent and get you acquainted with the basics of the major roles. This will be very helpful for new players wanting to try different roles.
  • The mortar unit is a very welcome addition to the game and feels very fun, versatile, and useful.
  • Customization looks promising, the weight based system is great. Makes this game much less rigid than HLL.
  • Helicopters and boats are a great addition and make asymmetric gameplay more viable.
  • NVA movement mechanics such as the tunnel systems are amazing.

The Bad

  • Performance is atrocious even on higher end hardware.

  • Server stability is absolutely unacceptable. Rubberbanding is so bad vehicles are unusable in most cases. Trucks are so painfully hard to drive that they made me nauseous.

  • Firearms feel anemic. They don't do the expected damage, but that could be due to the dsync issues. They sound like pellet guns. And the impact and ragdoll physics leave a lot to be desired. It just doesn't feel satisfying to get a kill and sometimes you don't even recognize you killed someone due to how little visual feedback you get. RS2 got this right years ago and even HLL somehow does this better.

  • Movement is improved in some places and made worse in others, the need to hold F to climb ladders is so clunky. Vaulting doesn't always work and I found myself unable to exit water where you might expect to be able to.

  • Some boat mounted weapons just move on their own for some reason.

  • Aiming feels jittery and hard to use, half the time you are better off hip firing. The WASD aiming for the NVA AA gun is so bad it beggars belief.

  • Explosions are laughably small and weak looking and sounding.

  • Commander abilities do not accurately indicate their length or width on the map. I team killed several people based on the inaccurate map indicator for the precision strike (which is actually a carpet bombing run)

  • Napalm looks and sounds horrible. Just ugly chained explosions.

  • You can the the frame outline of some particle effects making it look like you are watching someone do the explosion live from photoshop.

  • Spawn points for commander abilities and vehicles are unclear, requires a lot of trial and error just to get things to work.

Overall, this game is in a completely unacceptable state for a game that intends to launch in just under a month. Do not pre-order and do not buy this game. If you have pre-ordered already, I highly suggest cancelling to save yourself wasted time and money. T17 has once again attempted to deliver a 25% finished game as a full release. I guarantee, following their past practices, this game will be abandoned after a year and will never be fully finished. It is horribly disappointing as someone who loved HLL and Vietnam FPS games in general. Massive let down. This game shouldn't release until June 2027 at the minimum if they want to call this a 1.0 without people laughing in their faces.
