A letter I wrote once

To the heart whom I mistreated,

I'm sitting here trying to find the words which can describe my love for you, but none come close.

When I'm with you, the trials and tribulations of life fade into the background, blown away like a warm summer breeze that caresses the skin. I do not like being around people, for it drains me of energy, but being with you lifts me up. You are the stars which guide me home when I'm lost in this ocean of life. Your smile is like the moon that lights the darkest nights. Your eyes shine in the green of the lushest forest, in which I get lost over and over.

Your voice is a melody that would make the greatest composers weep because they know they could never create such beauty. Every flaw and every imperfection you see in yourself is a piece of art to me, which I would defend with my life to keep it safe from time forever. The moment we met, it felt like I knew you. You did not feel like a stranger but like a puzzle piece that was missing to make me whole. Your love for a blind fool like me is incomprehensible to me, like the secrets of the cosmos. Yet I still had the luck to experience it. You gave me patience I did not deserve and which I was too blind to see. You deserve the stars and everything beyond them.

As my last act of love, I will let you go if that is what you wish. You will always have a piece of my heart. I love you.
