ES1 - Inconsistent Ramp Down?

I just received my ES1, and I have been having a blast dialing it in so far. I am oh-so-close for my favorite roast of beans- got my volumetric offsets and grind size dialed in, shots are running the proper amount of time.

However, I am running into some issues with my custom profile. I have programmed in an 8 second 2 bar pre infusion, 25 second 8 bar infusion, then a 5 second 3 bar ramp down.

I am finding that the pre infusion and 8 bar infusion always happen, but the machine seems to sometimes skip the ramp down? As in, my pressure graph never drops off, and the bottom of the screen never reads “ramp down”. This is happening about 50% of the time (ie- it’s not consistent).

I have legitimately no idea what’s causing the sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t behavior. Is there something I am missing that would cause it not to happen?

I am finding the flavor profile of the shots I pull that do ramp down to be about where I want them (with some tweaks needed to grind size that I am working out), but when it skips the ramp down my shots are pulling too bitter. I am trying to figure out what I’m missing with ramp down consistency.
