I almost ended my life over my stutter, anxiety and depression in 12th grade. Today, I’m a fluent 4th-year CS student—and I just launched a free tool to help you escape that same prison.

Hey everyone,

Four years ago, I was sitting in my 12th-grade classroom, sweating through my shirt, praying the teacher wouldn't call on me. When she did, my throat locked. Total block. Just heavy, suffocating silence while a couple of kids in the back snickered. Due to a compounding series of incidents like that, alongside some other brutal life factors, I decided I couldn't live a lifetime under this pressure. I made a plan to end my life.

By some miracle, my plan failed. I survived.

After a few months of intense trauma combined with a strange, beautiful sense of relief, something finally clicked. I realized I should have been long dead. I was living on bonus time. If I was supposed to be gone anyway, then rejection, embarrassment, and stuttering didn't matter anymore. What did I have left to fear?

I decided to transform myself. I started hitting the gym, playing football, and promised myself to view this new life as a Divine Gift. I forced myself into public speaking. I began looking at embarrassment as a badge of honor, not a defeat. I practiced relentlessly, treating my speech like code that desperately needed debugging.

Cut to today: I'm in my 4th year. No one on campus has any idea I ever struggled to speak. Life is going incredibly well—it feels like heaven compared to my past. Fluent people think I'm one of them. But my loyalty lies here, with the people who actually know what it's like to fight a silent war every single day, and what it means to be completely paralyzed by your own thoughts

I vividly remember that during my darkest times, I desperately wanted to improve by practicing with real people so I could face my fears, stop the physical shivering, build confidence, and master my speaking style. Back then, I had to rely on Omegle to try exposure therapy, but it was incredibly uncomfortable, toxic, and stressful. From then on, I had a dream to build a dedicated website for anyone with speech issues and social anxiety - a place where they could feel completely comfortable building themselves up.

I promised myself I would put my tech skills to use to build the tool I always wished I had. Today, it is officially live. It’s 100% free, and it’s built exclusively for us.

It’s called UNMUTE.

What is it? Unmute is a tension-free audio and video connecting platform built specifically for facing social fears and improving communication. It is a completely safe haven. You click a button, and you are instantly matched with another person somewhere around the world who is fighting the exact same battle against social anxiety. Together, you can practice talking, make comfortable eye contact, and build social confidence at your own pace.

I don’t promise a miracle cure. Anxiety doesn’t disappear overnight. But if you believe in yourself, make a small timetable, and dedicate just 10 to 15 minutes every single day to practice interacting here, I can assure you that your comfort zone will expand massively.

We have spent far too long hiding in the shadows, letting fear dictate what we can and cannot do. There is absolutely no loss in giving it a few tries to reclaim your confidence.

I’m putting the link in the comments below, and I am incredibly eager for your feedback, ideas, or to hear how your very first conversation went.

Take your time. Breathe. Speak. Let’s un-mute our lives together.
