TWW 10th anniversary was really lackluster. This was my wishlist for it...
I know the 10th anniversary has already passed and we ultimately got nothing like this, so this is purely a “wishlist in an alternative universe” kind of post — but honestly, this is the sort of anniversary content pack I would’ve absolutely loved to see for Total War: WARHAMMER.
The idea would basically be a smaller-scale FLC-style “versus pack,” except instead of focusing on massive race reworks, giant mechanics systems, and tons of new units, it would focus entirely on adding community-favorite Legendary Lords that became iconic throughout the trilogy’s lifespan itself.
The scope would intentionally stay lightweight:
- 1 Legendary Lord per faction
- A couple thematic Regiments of Renown
- Some unique faction effects and mechanics
- Maybe a few bespoke UI assets and voice lines
- Mostly reusing existing assets otherwise
And the LLs themselves?
- Sarthorael the Everwatcher
- Surtha Ek the Everchariot
- Dmitry Tzaryev
- Alastar the White Lion
What I love about these characters is that they all represent different parts of the trilogy’s history and community culture.
Sarthorael has basically been tangled in the narrative since Game 1.
Surtha Ek became one of the biggest meme legends in the entire trilogy.
Dmitry somehow became weirdly iconic during the old pre-Kislev hype era.
And Alastar was literally a community-created character that CA elevated into semi-canon status.
To me, that would’ve made this kind of pack feel perfect for a 10th anniversary celebration: not necessarily a gigantic content expansion, but more of a tribute to the community and the strange mythology the trilogy built over the years.
Sure, as a full DLC this might’ve been difficult to justify financially. But considering the intentionally limited scope — mostly campaign design work, mechanics, UI, and some VO — I honestly don’t think it would’ve been an unreasonable amount of work for the amount of goodwill it could generate.
And honestly? Even if it wasn’t fully free, I think a symbolic $2–$3 price tag would’ve been more than fair.
I know there are obvious absentees like the Red Duke, but personally I think his inclusion would feel a bit awkward here since Vampire Counts are probably better suited for a larger future rework/update anyway.
So what do you guys think? If CA had actually done something like this for the 10th anniversary, would you have enjoyed it?
