Police report ?

I bought an iPhone off Facebook that was “sim locked” (I know stupid me Iv learned my mistakes ok) he told me he called boost and had them unlock the sim and it would take 24 hours to no surprise it’s now been 3 weeks I called boost they told me themselves it was locked to buy service good to go, I traded it with a friend for a switch and she tried to buy the boost service and the phone has been reported lost or stolen so now I am angry obviously so could I make a police report about this ? I have all proof screenshots of the listing and our entire conversation even me telling him the phone was still not working to which he ignored me, should I file a police report
