Beating your children is a sign that you're a bad parent

I don't understand why so many immigrants or 2nd and 3rd gen immigrants have such a hard time grasping why they should beat their kids. It's such an abusive and deplorable way of discipline. I think parents do it simply because they don't have the emotional intelligence or the patience to discipline their child; but it not like this is some newfound discovery to the parents, if you know you don't have patience then just don't have kids.

I honestly wouldn't refrain from calling these people crazy because that's exactly what they are. We live in a world where it's mostly understood that beating your wife, your parents, random people or even your pets is wrong and can cause trauma, but that logic doesn't extend to children? The fact that people will treat pets better than their own child is dumbfounding. A lot of these parents need CPS called on them and the only reason they haven't done it is because their communities have normalized the behavior.
